A Finance Case Study in Cost Savings and Compliance
The Problem
The company needed to renew its Microsoft Enterprise Agreement that supports desktop and data center infrastructure for its branches, while also optimizing licensing, ensuring contract and license compliance, reducing costs, avoiding risk, and providing for ease of true-up and long-term savings.
Objectives
The Solution
Under ISAM’s SAM Advisory practice, we implemented a comprehensive solution approach to optimize the organization’s software assets. We collected utilization and configuration data from multiple tools, including Maptool, RVTool, SCCM, and Clarity. Using this data, we created and reviewed the Effective License Position (ELP) to ensure compliance with licensing agreements. We also reviewed previous agreements to provide guidance on pricing, licensing, and counting rules. Additionally, we mentored the procurement team to provide education in best practices for software asset management.
